Chris Minns has cut $249 million out of Palliative care funding across NSW, including funding for hospital looking after terminally ill kids. It will mean that more people will have to die in pain and miss out on this essential care. The total end of life care package that has been cut would have funded essential care including:

  • An extra 600 palliative care nurses, allied health professionals, doctors and support staff
  • Extra dedicated palliative care beds across the state
  • Additional support for people who wish to be treated at home
  • Improved access to pain management services for patients with life-limiting illnesses
  • Improved access to palliative care for people suffering from Cancer and other late stage chronic conditions
  • Funding for paediatric palliative care services at the Sydney Children's Hospital Network and John Hunter Children's Hospital

The Government has confirmed the cuts, but not released the full details of all the essential services patients will miss out on.

Why is it important:

Many of us, our loved ones and our friends will be touched by Palliative Care and the important work of wonderful medical professionals during the most difficult days of our lives.

Medical care experts have described these changes as heart breaking and have warned that more people will now die in pain.

It's worth fighting for, and together we can make a difference and have this decision reversed.

Chris Minns has already cut millions in funding from our Health system. Sign this petition to get this funding restored.
